Now, An Explosive New Movie by Severed Heads As I understand, the mass opinion is heavily divided and the overall perspective is that they're somewhere between "okay" and "very bad".WRFL 88.1 FM Alumni Show, 16 October 2018ĭOWNLOAD (Right click and save – 256 AAC, 233.4 MB, 2:02:13) They're worth seeing if not just for Jim Carrey and Bat Nipples.Įdit: I have not yet seen the Batfleck films and cannot provide opinion or perspective relevant to those. The non-Burton continuation with "Forever" and "And Robin" have aren't *completely* worthless but are more of a goof than anything. Overall I'd say the Nolan films are "better", but as far as getting that dark-camp vibe, nobody has ever come close to Burton's vision. The Burton films are the only ones that really attempt both shades and they inarguably succeed. The Adam West show/film was pure campy, and the Nolan films, while absolutely excellent, leaned too far away from camp. Batman was always somewhere between dark and campy, and Burton absolutely nails that dynamic. I'll admit that I'm a *massive* fan of the Nolan films, but IMO the Burton ones are the "truest" ones. Not to mention the visuals are truly nauseating in a "flashing lights and harsh angles" way and the Mike TV Oompa Loompa song gives me such bad secondhand embarrassment I want to fold into myself like a collapsing star.īut again I mean it's cool people enjoy it. That doesn't mean that you can't fit a story/any relevant arcs in the parameters of the books time stamps-and it doesn't mean that story has to be a shoehorned and stilted b plot. So much so in fact that they had to give him a redemption arc based on a hatred of dentists and fathers hindering his personal growth AFTER the original plot is over?Īnd I do get it-the first adaptation was called "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and was about Charlie so this is a response to that where Charlie is in the name and it's about Willy. They turned Wonka into a legitimately inept, soft spoken and childish character who is too busy being a Tim Burton writeup to deliver a vehicle for the actual plot of the book-or at least one somewhat relevant to it. However I truly don't understand how people dig this. I absolutely still respect peoples opinions on this movie and I still won't say it sucks, etc. Just that some things aren't for me and I respect and understand why people like those things. So I'm really a firm believer in not saying things suck or things are bad (music, movies, etc).
